On February 25, 2022 - one day following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, our fundraising efforts began and had immediate impact for fleeing refugees. Starting at Hostel Przemysl on the Poland/Ukraine border, our team in Washington, DC coordinated with hostel staff to quickly provide hot meals, warm beds and safety for those in need. In the weeks following, our work transitioned to boots on the ground in Medyka, Poland where our direct humanitarian work began.
Known lovingly as Camp Medyka - the border crossing where thousands upon thousands of Ukrainians walked into Poland, the daily routine of meeting families, learning their stories, transporting them to safety and providing some sense of normalcy became our labor of love. To this day, we continue to provide housing and financial support to many of those we met in these first days.

Our assistance in Medyka, Poland provided urgent support including food, shelter and emergency healthcare services for many crossing the border.
Our approach continues to be facilitate the safe return of these refugees to Ukraine once conditions within the country allow.
